Recently, I was explaining that I am certified as a sound bath healer and someone asked me, “what is a sound bath?” Great question! I sometimes forget that this is still a fairly new experience, well at least in the Western World (it actually dates back to over 2,000 years ago in Tibet, Washington Post.) So let’s get right into it-
What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where a healer uses different instruments to relax the participants. This brings them into a calm state at the soul level.
Why is it called a bath?
It is called a bath because you feel like you are being submerged into the sound and it feels like it is washing over you.
What are the benefits?
Some benefits include increased relaxation, expanded awareness, reduced anxiety and tension and improve mood.
What instruments are used?
This really depends on the healer. Some instruments can include metal bowls, crystal bowls, chimes and drums.
What do I (as the participant) do during a sound bath?
Absolutely nothing! Well almost… You find a comfortable position (either sitting or laying down) and your goal is to try and relax your mind (easier said than done, I know). You may focus on breathwork during this time or use the time for manifestation exercises where you picture your highest self and what that means for you.
I fell in love with sound baths when after a yoga class in Miami, the teachers ended with a 20 minute sound session; felt myself relax to state that was deeper than I had ever felt. At that moment, I knew I had to learn how to do this in order to help others achieve this meditative state.
I offer virtual sessions, private sessions in person and session for events! Please feel free to contact me at veronicavictoriawellness@gmail.com or DM me @Veronicavictoriawellness if you’re interested or have any questions!
