Why I am Doing a Juice Cleanse
Why I am Doing a Juice Cleanse. I’m thinking about doing a juice cleanse and I thought it was important to explain the why behind it.
The first thing that comes to people’s minds when they hear juice cleanse is that the person is doing a quick fix or a quick diet. As juice diets have rose to popularity in the past few years, this thinking is unfortunately but probably true in most cases.
I am writing this during the Covid-19 quaratine where I am basically at home everyday (except for a jog/walk outside), getting significantly less steps in. I am however cooking every meal and refuse to buy anything that is in a box or bag (aka processed foods) so I have been eating whole healthy foods. Also, I have had no desire to order anything because at first I was nervous about the germs but now I honestly haven’t craved anything that I can’t make myself.
Where I am getting with this is that I am actually very happy with my body currently. I’ve lost a few pounds due to how I have been feeding myself. Not bragging, just explaining. So why a juice cleanse?
Diet vs. Cleanse
First of all, let me tell you all that I DO NOT believe in diets. A diet is temporary. If you want to lose weight, that’s great, but then don’t you want to keep it off? In order to keep it off, you need a lifestyle change and that is exactly what I would help teach you if you were my client. So a juice cleanse as a diet- NO, a juice cleanse as a cleanse though- YES.
Most people are suffering from some sort of ailment and are on medication for something. The medication then causes something else bad to happen, as most are not without side effects. Do you see the cycle I’m getting at? So how can we help ourselves? Through food!!
I’m not going to go into this too much right now because that is a topic for another day but if you would like more research, please check out these documentaries- Fat Fiction and Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. The point I’m getting at is that most people are lacking in nutrients. The easiest way to get a huge amount of healthy and natural nutrients is through juicing.
So What’s My Reason?
For a few years now, even though I eat very well, I still sometimes get very bloated and gassy to the point where my stomach hurts (sorry tmi but this is a wellness site). I take a probiotic and prebiotic and eat fermented foods to keep my gut healthy but yet sometimes I still have a bad reaction.
So my ultimate goal is to do an elimination diet to find out exactly what foods are causing this. And prior to doing this elimination diet, I want to make sure my gut is in a good and clean spot which is the reason for my juicing.
I am not going extreme either, I plan to do a 3-4 day juice cleanse. I will be posting my juice recipes so make sure to check back!
*Please note: I know I am in good health standing and okay to do this. If you decide to make this decision for yourself, please seek the advice of your doctor or naturopath.
