    What is Grounding or Earthing?

    You may have recently heard the terms “grounding” and/or “earthing” thrown around, especially if you follow any wellness or health advocates. But what exactly do these terms mean? That is what I am going to explain to you.

    To start off let me explain that “grounding” and “earthing” can be used interchangeably. They both have the same meaning; so if you hear one person using “earthing” and another using “grounding,” please know that they are referring to the same thing. For this post I’m going to stick to “grounding” to keep things consistent.

    How can I practice Grounding/Earthing?

    Grounding quite literally comes from being in touch with the ground and feeling grounded as well. It can refer to a myriad of activities that would make you feel grounded which include walking barefoot outside, lying on the ground or going in a natural water source such as a lake or ocean. If going outside isn’t an option then sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to groundings systems could work. These systems transfer the Earth’s electrons from the ground into the body.

    What are the benefits of Grounding/Earthing?

    The benefits of grounding are said to include pain reduction and mood improvement which can aid with depression. Other tests that are being performed include studying the affect grounding has on inflammation, cardiovascular disease, and chronic pain.

    There are actually studies that have been done to prove that grounding actually helps the body as well. One study checked the blood work of people who had post-exercise muscle damage. The study showed that grounding reduced muscle damage and pain. Read more here.

    To sum it up

    Grounding is still fairly new when it comes to research but people have been doing it for ages. You always hear about people reconnecting with nature and that is what grounding is. You reconnect with the earth in order to realign your electrical energy.

    With all the technology that is around us, we need this now more than ever. So even if you are in a city, make it a point to go to your local park, take off your shoes and just sit on the grass with your feet touching the earth. And if you are doubting this, just remember that the earth has always been here for us- with food, water and air. So why not trust that it is good for us?

Today I met up with friends for a business chat at THAT viral matcha spot!
As someone who drinks high quality matcha and makes her own at home most of the time- was it worth it??
YES! the matcha is super high quality, the price is fair and even reasonable for what you’re getting! But beware, 6 grams of matcha is above average and you will definitely feel it if you’re drinking it on an empty stomach (like I did 🙃)

•Milk options: no “clean” homemade milk alternatives so i opted for whole milk (my go-to lately)

Payton (@paipaiwellness) asking how I’m going to celebrate after our last final of this semester for Acupuncture grad school and my answer really was - i have an acupuncture session booked!

Acupuncture is not just for aches and pains (although amazing for that too)! 
Working, studying and feeling stressed depletes our body’s Qi (energy) which can then cause your Wei Qi (defensive qi, which keeps you healthy from outside pathogens) to deplete as well! 
Acupuncture helps to strengthen your Qi- keeping your body in balance to help keep you healthy! Can’t wait for my session!
