My Experience on Sakara
For the past three days I have been eating foods delivered to me by a company called Sakara, this is my experience on it.
What is Sakara?
Sakara is a company founded on the principle that food can heal your body and be life-changing. As you know, I completely believe and strive toward teaching you how to have a healthy relationship with food. Sakara’s goal is to shift the focus away from relying on nutrition labels (counting calories, carbs, fats, etc.) and instead look at the quality of the ingredients and how you feel as an indicator of health. This goal is completely aligned with my own.
The Sakara meals are nutritionally-designed for optimal digestion, cleansing, and healing. If you are wondering if you will lose weight while eating the food, then yes- if you have weight to lose, after about 3 weeks you will start seeing a change in your body (80% of clients reported weight loss and 70% reported debloating).
The foods come packing a heavy dose of hunger-fighting proteins, fibers, and nutrient-dense superfoods! All this combined keeps you feeling full for longer.
I did the 3-day Meal Program
I did the 3-day Meal Program because what good would I be talking about this if I hadn’t experienced it myself, right?? You can look at the menu ahead of time online to make sure you like everything and don’t have any major allergies (for which if you do, you can contact their customer service team ahead of time and inquiry about substitutions). I then received breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days. Along with the meals I was sent a tote bag, 10 detox tea bags, 3 probiotics, palo santo cleansing stick and an energy super bar.
Day 1
Breakfast- I had a “Maize Muffin with Probiotic Berry Coulis” and a side of fruit. The meal was very flavorful, if you like a sweet breakfast (not too sweet though) then this would be great for you. I felt quite full after eating it.
Lunch- Watermelon Rose Salad with a Detox Toast with Pepita Pate. I don’t normally like to mix fruit with my meals but I was open to trying everything I received and I ended up learning that I like watermelon in my salad! The Pepita Toast was also delicious and very flavorful.
Dinner- Golden Pineapple “Un-fried” Rice. Again with fruit in the meal and I didn’t hate it! In fact I ate it all even though it was a big portion. The meal was VERY flavorful (I tend to eat foods with only a little salt and some cayenne) and I was afraid that I would be thirsty after but I wasn’t AT ALL! Not bloating like I get with salty restaurant food. That’s clean ingredients for you!
Day 2
Breakfast- Banana Protein Bread with Macerated Berries. I felt like I was eating dessert when I had this. In fact if I remember correctly I think there were chocolate chips in the banana bread.
Lunch- Prosperity Pad Thai Bowl. I love Pad Thai and this was probably one of my favorite meals. The sauces or dressings they include really hit the spot.
Dinner- Maple Sweet Potato Bowl. It’s funny because I was actually craving something warm and in a tomato sauce base and then I had this! The meals are planned a certain way and I have to say so far everything I’ve eaten I’ve loved but also sort of had a craving for.
Day 3
Breakfast- Sakara Glow Granola with Pink Salt Mylk. This was probably one of my favorite breakfasts because I low key love cereal (never have it anymore). I love not feeling guilty about eating a guilty pleasure!! (if that makes sense)
Lunch- H20 Glow Salad. This dressing was beyond amazing. The salad was both light but hearty because of the beans which kept me full until dinner.
Dinner- Veggie Satay Bowl. I wasn’t too sure about this one but it actually ended up being one of my favorites. The bowl was packed with vegetables as well as vermicelli which I love.
Overall Thoughts
The meals were a lot more flavorful than I thought they would be. So if you are worried about that- don’t be.
Be open to trying new ingredients or combinations of ingredients, I did and liked them all. I can honestly say there wasn’t one meal that I wouldn’t repeat.
I was never hungry, in fact I couldn’t finish dinner one night.
